Our family wants to travel. We like that old west, the beach, the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains and historic sites including Mount Vernon and Independence Hall. Our house owns a condo at Chetola Resort in Blowing Rock, Nc on the Blue Ridge Parkway. This has been a family get-a-way for many years and we never tire of the beauty of the lake, the slow pace and the amenities the region is offering. From the quaint little capital of scotland- Blowing Rock using its shops and restaurants to Linville Falls and Caverns and Biltmore House to activities like horse riding, skiing, whitewater rafting and hiking.
In May of 2009 i was offered a friend's condo for a week in Bradenton, Fl. Excited to look, every one of the preparations ended up made. As it turns out, the week wasn't available in the end so we thought our trip will be canceled. We could have decided to remain in a hotel, but that will not very comfortable 5 people. Therefore we started brainstorming. If we would use someone's condo for the week, maybe we might trade a week at our condo to get a week in Florida. We started emailing other owners of rental properties of comparable size and cost. After about Six or seven attempts with with no success we found an enjoyable Two bedroom house in St. Petersburg, Fl. empyrean.net Their ad on a vacation rental site read "would consider swapping", and then we emailed the dog owner and 2 days later there were an agreement. We would head to St. Petersburg in June as well as the other owner would stay weekly at our invest Blowing Rock in November. Our condo just isn't usually booked much in November so that it was obviously a win-win for folks.
Actually not on the beach was obviously a blessing even as visited 6 different beaches. No cash exchanged so no taxes were required. With the savings over a rental or hotel i was in a position to visit 2 carnivals. We spent one day at Busch Gardens and something at Seaworld.
